The early hours of this morning saw me planning for my blog, needless to say I was pretty awful last year with a few posts here and there but I’m determined to start the New Year with a fresh writing attitude by sharing my 2013 highlights.
Last year turned out to be about growth, exploration and seizing opportunities once I realised I wasn’t being creative enough. I missed creating and being surrounded by creative people. I felt that my creativity had gotten lost, trapped somewhere along the way after the release of my EP. With rehearsals and the gigs that followed, (which was awesome as the support I received was beyond my expectations) then the fixations and conversations with management began, coupled by the realisation that some of my friends totally sucked and a general wonderment about nothing; I was pretty damned distracted you could say. So with that being said – ‘Creativity’ became my focus. And that’s when the fun began!
I got signed to an acting agency and soon after landed my first few commercials and later in the year, a role in an independent film (filming commences in 2014 – EXCITED). Stepping into the film and TV arena has always been something I’ve wanted to do but I wasn’t expecting it to be so seamless. I fell in step with old friends I’d lost touch with, made new ones and they have become amazing companions down this new path of mine.
I became a student again, studied at the Actors Studio, the Actors Suite and now at RADA – all amazing, fruitful experiences. I‘ve met some incredible directors who were happy to share their knowledge and their experiences with me – it really was an event to see them create in their field.
Despite travelling down new roads and exploring different creative streams, Music has remained my constant and I of course, continued to write as I shaped and recorded my album. My lyric book was (and still is) busting at the seams with the amount of awesome pop songs I’d written and co-written; I can’t wait to share them with you.
I am so excited to get my album, my body of work out to you all as it has been a phenomenal challenge to complete. I’ve met (and interviewed) some incredible artists, songwriters – all of which became learning curves in their own way.
All my loved ones are happy, healthy and having fun on their journeys – it’s given me so much joy to watch their growth and I’ve felt blessed to be a part of it all.
Here’s to 2013 – the year of growth, exploration and seizing opportunities, 2014…let’s see what you’ve got in store for me.
